On May 3 and 4, 2023, the conference “The Path to Energy Communities Based on Renewable Energy Sources” as part of the SunSharing project, was held in the Moise Palace on the island of Cres.
The organization of the conference was led by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Shipbuilding of the University of Zagreb with partners Green Energy Cooperative and the City of Prelog.
The Society for Designing Sustainable Development presented its project LOGYCO – Setting the basis for the establishment of local energy communities at the conference. This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate (BMWK).
The main goal of the project is to raise the knowledge and competences of citizens and other local actors about energy communities and to introduce them to the benefits of participating in energy communities, so that they become active participants in the energy market. The main activities that will take place as part of the project and the target group are presented.
Interested local and regional self-government units, agencies, researchers, entrepreneurs and representatives of the civil sector gathered at the conference. The participants had the opportunity to hear more from the contractors of photovoltaic power plants who shared their experiences from the field and about the overview of the current state of the energy communities of citizens in Croatia. Also, various projects dealing with this topic were presented, as well as examples of good practice in the use of solar energy.
